What is the difference between a pre-made and custom made scrapbook?
Pre-made scrapbooks are created without your pictures attached.  Spaces are left for you to add any photos, memorabilia, and journaling after you receive the album.  When ordering a pre-made scrapbook you can still specify a color scheme, quantity of pages, album size, and specific page titles if desired.  The album will still be handcrafted and custom made just for you.

Custom made scrapbooks are created using your photos and memorabilia.  Journaling tags will be left blank for you to add any additional thoughts and memories.  All page designs will be created by using your photos as inspiration.  You can pick and choose the theme of your pages by which pictures you provide and the details discussed during our initial consultation.

How do you determine the cost per page?
Each of my pages are highly detailed and designed specifically for you.  I use multiple materials on each page that can include specialty papers, cardstock, brads, flowers, fibers, ribbon, buttons, flat and dimensional stickers, chalks, inks, etc.  In addition there are multiple materials used that are unseen by you, adhesive, cutting tools, sewing machine, computer software, stamps, embossing tools, punches, etc.  On average, one page can take up to 2-4 hours to complete.  Since the materials used are of the highest quality they are also pricey, that as well as the time it takes to create each page is how I determine the cost.

What is journaling?
Scrapbook journaling is just how it sounds; it is a written account describing the photos on your page(s).   Journaling can be just as important as the photos themselves in telling the story of the event.  You may want to tell the funny story behind the pictures or a special memory that you want your loved ones to read for years to come.  There are many creative ways to journal which we’ll discuss during our consultation.  Not every page needs journaling though, as many pictures speak for themselves!

If you would prefer to add any journaling yourself after receiving your scrapbook, I will be sure to leave space on each page for you to do so, as well as provide you with a complimentary acid-free marker.  We will discuss your options in more detail during your consultation.

What is the difference between a page and a layout?
A “page” is a single 12x12, 8.5x11, or 8x8 page.  A “layout” is two pages side-by-side of the same theme or event.

What is included in the cost of my scrapbook and what is not?
All labor and supply costs are included.  The album cost is additional and depends on which size you prefer.  If shipping is required the cost is determined by the final weight and size of the completed scrapbook and type of shipping preferred.

How many photos can fit on a page? estimate for 4x6 photos, exact number depends on page design

8" x 8" page:  1-2 photos
8.5" x 11" page:  1-3 photos
12" x 12" page:  1-5 photos

What does acid and lignin free mean?
Acid is a chemical agent used during the manufacturing of paper and lignin is the chemical agent that holds fibers together in tree bark; both can degrade and discolor over time which can ruin your photos.  Acid and lignin can be removed during the manufacturing process to create products that are free of both.  I only use 100% acid and lignin free products.

What if some of the memorabilia I want included is not photo safe i.e. newspaper clippings?
There are two things we can do to ensure your memorabilia will stay in perfect shape.  I can photo copy the item onto photo safe paper and you can keep the original, or I can use an archival spray which is designed to make paper products acid-free.

I have years of photos, how do I decide where to start?
I would start with a scrapbook for the current year; once you have that album in place then you can go back through your older photos.  This way you won’t feel like you can never catch up with the photos that are in your camera right now.  I can create as many scrapbooks as you need!

What should I expect during our consultation?
There are three types of consultations: in-person, through email and over the phone.  All three include filling out a detailed consultation form and discussing what you do and do not want included in your scrapbook.  During this consultation you will have a chance to look through my portfolio (whether on my website or in-person) and choose layouts and design styles that you like.  We will go through all of your photos and include them on a photo inventory log which will include any special instructions you may have.  We will discuss your preferences thoroughly before I begin any work on your scrapbook.  This initial consultation typically lasts 1 hour.

How long does it take to complete my scrapbook?
The amount of time it takes to complete an album varies depending on size, number of pages and detail of each layout.  An estimate for a 12x12 album with 20 pages would be 4 weeks.  If you require your album sooner, I will make every effort to meet any deadline.

Do you offer gift certificates?
Absolutely! Giving the gift of a scrapbook to friends and family is one of the rare things that will last a lifetime!  Gift certificates can be given in any increment.

How do I pay for my scrapbook?
Cash, check and PayPal are accepted forms of payment.

What is PayPal?
PayPal is a secure way to pay online.  This service allows you to pay in almost any way you prefer, including through credit cards, bank accounts, buyer credit or account balances, without sharing financial information.  All you need is a valid email address to get started.

Can you do page by page layouts if I don’t need a full scrapbook at this time?
Of course!  The process and price per page is the same.  Decide what size layout you want and if doing custom pages, send me the pictures and memorbilia you want included.  Print out names, dates and any special details and send them along with your photos.   If you want premade pages just let me know the theme you want and I’ll get started!  I will call you after your pages are finished and ship them within 48 hours of receiving payment.

What if I need to cancel my order in the middle of the process?
If you need to cancel your order for any reason you will only be liable for the pages already created.  Your deposit will be returned minus the cost of work already completed and return shipping.  If the amount due is more than the deposit, items will be withheld until payment for the remaining balance is received.
